Last week we learned that there are two authorities vying for control over our lives. Not only do these two powers want authority over individual lives, but the entire world. Every single one of us is a citizen of one of two kingdoms.
When a person becomes naturalized as a citizen of the United States, they must swear an oath of allegiance. They entirely renounce all previous foreign leaders and allegiances that they were once subject to and swear to defend the Constitution and laws of America against her enemies.
In the same way, there is no neutral ground between the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of God. Each of us must choose where our allegiance lies.
