Pandemic Food Assistance

Please help to share the news about new benefits from the State Department of Human Services with your friends and family.

There’s a great new benefit available for Hawaii families with children who are struggling to buy food: P-EBT!  Check out https://humanservices.hawaii.gov/blog/p-ebt-information-and-frequently-asked-questions/  for more details about it.

It is our understanding that virtually all schools in the nation qualify for NSLP. We have 27 charter schools in Hawaii already on it. The school lunch specialists at Hawaii Child Nutrition Programs should be able to answer your questions: https://hcnp.hawaii.gov/overview/nslp/

It’s true that 48,000 of the students who are getting P-EBT also already get SNAP EBT benefits. But P-EBT helps an additional 43,000 students in Hawaii who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, but not SNAP. https://humanservices.hawaii.gov/blog/hawai%ca%bbi-to-provide-cash-assistance-for-children-who-receive-free-or-reduced-cost-school-meals/
