When we picture the Christmas story, our mind may go to a beautiful star in the sky, dazzling white angels, or Magi dressed in ornate clothing, but the actual story of Christmas was anything but picturesque. The first three years of Joseph and Mary’s lives were, in a word, traumatic. This begs the question, “Where is God in our hopelessness?”
Christmas is a story of hope but maybe not in the way we might think.
23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel,” (which means “God with us”),” (Matthew 1:23 NIV).
