H: WGSU5: “Get in the Game”

Using a sport’s analogy, one may start out as spectators at the big game, but Jesus is looking for more than just spectators. He wants players who he’ll call out by name to come out of the stands, become part of His team, and get into the game to experience the joy of winning and never be the same again.

M: 3/8/20: GKH3: “Elisha’s Printing Press”

The ancient Hawaiians only had an oral tradition, so the first missionaries had to  create a written language then teach the ancient Hawaiians how to read and write their own language. It is a truly remarkable achievement of this first team of missionaries to Hawaii!

Key to this endeavor was Elisha Loomis who just happened to bring on board with him an old printing press. This led to a 75% literacy rate second only to Scotland.

M: 1/11/20: “20/20 DISCONTENT”

It will take more than inspiration to see our God Vision through to the end. It will take strong conviction to endure. How does this happen? Often the pathway to strong conviction is a “holy discontent” about how things are. Even if our future is unclear, we have 20/20 certainty that the way things are should not be!

Key Verse: Nehemiah 1:3 – 4 They said to me, “Things are not going well for those who returned to the province of Judah. They are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Je- rusalem has been torn down, and the gates have been destroyed by fire.” 4 When I heard this, I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned, fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven.” & Nehemiah 2:18 “ Then I told them about how the gracious hand of God had been on me, and about my conversation with the king. They replied at once, “Yes, let’s rebuild the wall!” So they began the good work.”
