“I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish so that I may gain Christ” (Philippians 3:8 NASB).  –Pastor Mike’s favorite verse

Pastor Mike Palompo is the founder and senior pastor of New Hope Central Oahu (NHCO) which was established on Easter Sunday, April 4, 1999.  Historically, NHCO was the first church plant to emerge from New Hope Oahu led by Pastor Wayne Cordeiro. Mike is a proud graduate of the Radford High School Bicentennial Class of 1976 where he was student council president.  He has a BA in Psychology from San Francisco State University, where he graduated summa cum laude. He has a Master’s degree in Christian Studies from Regent College in Vancouver, BC. His favorite professors at Regent were Eugene Peterson, J.I. Packer, and Gordon Fee. He has a Doctor of Ministry in Spiritual Transformation from The King’s University in Los Angeles under Chancellor Jack Hayford.

While Mike was at SF State, he was involved with Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, where he was Chapter President. While in Inter-Varsity, Mike attended Urbana ‘79 where he heard a powerful call to ministry from Billy Graham. After graduation, Mike became a full-time Campus Life Director with Hawaii Youth For Christ. For 16 years he devoted his life to introducing Hawaii’s young people to Jesus and helping them follow Him.

Mike has written two books: God Things: Encounters with Jesus that Transform Us and Lightning in a Bottle: Our Odyssey to Temple the Holy Spirit.  He is also the longest, continuous adjunct professor at Pacific Rim Christian University (since 1998) where he designed and teaches three courses: Spiritual Transformation; Personal Evangelism and Discipleship; and Principles of Church Ministry (aka “The Jesus-Built Church”).

Mike has lived in Mililani, Hawaii since 1991. He and his lovely wife, Mona, have been married since 1983. Their firstborn son, Mark, is the Teaching Pastor of NHCO. Mark is married to Jalee and they have three children, Evangeline, Judah, and Lylah. Mike and Mona also have a daughter Rachael  who works as a Project Manager for an architectural firm in Honolulu. Their youngest son, Caleb, is a crew chief in the USAF and is currently stationed in Tucson, AZ.
